The airport was 20 km away from here, awesome and prime location. I got an updated and cosy room and the staff were affable. The room was not only stocked, but cool too, and had an air conditioning, an iron and a work desk.
The bathroom was very small, I didn't like it.

Great location; many sights are within walking distance (Parliament Hill, Rideau River, Ottawa Locks, Byward Market, Mall, etc.); Parking included, which would otherwise cost extra; Acceptable breakfast (typical for the country in paper plate style); Clean room and good service
The central location also has its price: many homeless people and junkies in the quarter around the hotel, although they tend to be passive; no special incidents, as there are also many people on the street; On the neighboring property a large building site is just opened (2x 25 floors), which could cause noise from 7 a.m. on (so think about ear plugs); Avoid rooms next to the stairs, because they are secured with a door and therefore always close in the evening; rooms quite warm; AC available; window ventilation (with fly screen) only possible on the ground floor, because the 1st floor has a corridor in front of it

The location was perfect. You were at the parliament and downtown in a very short time. There was also free parking in the hotel's large car park. The staff was very nice and dedicated.
unfortunately, there are a lot of things now, i would not like to exclude that i had bad luck with the actual room. as soon as you entered the room, strange smell hit your nose. as it was not possible to ventilate the room directly, i wanted to switch on the air conditioning. it was full of mould, so i decided to leave it alone before i blew any mould into the air. horror came then in the middle of the night. little black spots turned out to be bedbugs. here it was clear to me that the second night would be cancelled immediately. since the bed bugs were clearly visible, one must unfortunately assume a more acute problem, at least in this room. in the breakfast room you can only get there with the room card. in retrospect this also made sense, as several homeless people tried to get into the room, partly with a little more force opposite the door. (the room is at ground level, is completely glazed and has its own entrance).

air conditioning was great, 2 double beds were good, nice little bathroom. proximity to the center was good. good food/shopping possibilities. nice tv. room was great overall.
We didn't like the things outside the room. The staff kept walking around and slamming the intermediate doors. The door to the stairwell made a lot of noise when opening and closing. There was a lot of traffic in the hallway by guests and cleaning staff. Other guests scream through the hallways early in the morning. Loud air conditioning noises (place of origin unclear). . Breakfast was very poor. There were eggs (shrink-wrapped in foil) that could be warmed up in the microwave. There was a waffle machine, cornflakes, some bread, only strawberry jam and peanut butter, pudding weren't great either, tea and coffee but overall you weren't really fed up with it. The cleanliness was not very important there, it was also very loud in the room (noisy). The food was not always replenished or the staff didn't really feel like it. It was not a continental breakfast.

Great location, cheap price. Staff were mostly quite friendly. Wi-fi access was solid.
Can't really recommend it; it's unbelievably run-down. When I got to my room, I discovered the chain/bolt-lock had been ripped off the door and was hanging uselessly by one screw. Two of the lamps had been ripped apart and had not even been taped together but just left in that state. Room cleaning was random: some mornings they would make the bed but leave everything else untouched; other mornings they'd replace the instant coffee but leave the bed untouched; etc. I think by the end of my several days there they'd done everything at least once, just never on the same day. The bath wasn't working and when I went to the front desk to inquire and ask for assistance, I was given directions to the nearest hardware shop for me to fix the problem myself (I kid you not). I've stayed in budget locations in many countries, so I took all this with a bit of a sense of humour, but really there's no need, even for the price. I've stayed in cheaper places in equivalent-sized Euro-American cities that have had far superior quality. This is either a poor reflection on this hotel, or on Ottawa in general. Anyway, if all you care about is cheap price and good location (and the staff were quite nice, if not particularly effective), this will meet your needs, although beware that it's probably the most run-down dive I've encountered in any large Canadian city.

We truly enjoyed this great budget hotel. the food was tasty, and the staff were friendly. It was in a central setting near grocery stores, Loblaws, markets, tourist attractions, and downtown, Parliament Hill.

Like the location. That's it.
Let's start with the house keeping. I usually leave my room by 9:00 a.m. When I came to take a nap at 15:00 the room was not made. When I pointed out this to the house keeper, she just laughed played ignorance. The front desk were no help either.
